The role of organizational culture and mentoring in mature worker socialization toward retirement
Article Abstract:
Managers can improve an employee's quality of life during retirement by focusing more on the organization's efforts of retirement planning, socialization, organizational culture, and mentoring. Retirement, which should be perceived as a process that is affected by several factors including education, occupation, family, economics and social culture. In the current changing workforce, retirement age fluctuates markedly and therefore should not be used as the only predictor or determinant of retirement.

Understanding the older stipended volunteer: age-related differences among AmeriCorps members
Article Abstract:
Older employees recognize more feedback and autonomy than their younger co-workers, thus varied perceptions of the same work task handled by different age-groups may lead to a correlation between age and satisfaction. Contrasting behaviors on work by the two age-groups are likely to cause these different perceptions, with the older workforce appreciating the voluntary aspect of the work and the younger ones concentrating more on the career and economic aspects of AmeriCorps.

Organizational leadership and organizational culture are vital factors in promoting the implementation of family leave in public organizations, as evidenced by New York State employees' family and medical leave use under the Family and Medical Leave Act. Executive and organizational leaders should consider the link between employees' quality of life at the office and home and organizational performance.
