The symbolic power of gold
Article Abstract:
Gold, physically and metaphorically, one of the most malleable metals is used in religious ceremonies, burial rituals, as currency, artifacts, a means of exchange and valuable reserve since time immemorial and its pursuit has lead man to go in search of it in far off places as well as try to create it chemically. World markets tell that other precious metals have long surpassed gold in terms of pure economic value but as a symbol and a source of inspiration its role is unparalleled.

East-west migration and the Czech republic
Article Abstract:
The demolition of the Berlin wall created apprehensions of an inflow of migrants from Eastern Europe. A preliminary migration typology for the Czech Republic has been prepared by relying on more than two hundred interviews of the migrants in their own language. Many immigrants use the Czech Republic as a transit zone; for others it is a final destination.
