Women's movements on-line: the new post-socialist revolution
Article Abstract:
Social and cultural variations in meanings in different languages hinder electronic interactions among women's groups. Pro-democracy and women's right movements are gaining momentum in post-socialist Eastern Europe. Electronic communication systems provide opportunities for interactions among various women's groups and non-governmental organizations. Language experts are trying to evolve standardized words with specific meanings for e-mail to provide the East and the West with opportunities to interact.

Connecting developing countries to the information technology revolution

The communication and information-technology revolution provides an immense developmental potential for developing countries. A wise and strategic utilization of developments in this area can ensure rapid socio-economic changes in a positive direction. These will provide opportunities for better education, better health facilities, reduction of economic deprivations, and reduced isolation. Better environmental monitoring and management can be attained with the help of these technological advances.

Interminable revolution: Populism and frustration in 20th century Bolivia
Article Abstract:
The rise of Evo Morales is usually viewed in the light of a regional resurgence of populism, but one can gain better insight into the significance and role of Morales by viewing it against a backdrop of Bolivian political and social history. The Bolivian political instability is rooted in popular power, and so it would be appropriate to regard populism itself as a feature of Bolivian political development, rather than as a singular political phenomenon.
