Adolescent machine gambling and crime
Article Abstract:
Nearly four percent of the adolescents in Plymouth, UK, engage in regular gaming machine use and also commit crimes to fund this behavior. Most of these adolescents are at a stage where the police are also involved. However, there are many other cases of crime associated with gaming machine use which are not reported or someone else is blamed for them. Most of the teenagers who engage in gaming machine use come from families with poor finances and strained relationships. This was the first offense for one-third of the adolescents with the primary goal of funding their gambling habit.

The use of a multi-stage confrontation technique in the context of an adolescent unit
Article Abstract:
Therapeutic confrontation can be used with adolescents to bring up areas of their interpersonal and intra-psychic lives that are subject to denial and avoidance. However, it should never be used as an outlet for the therapists' anger and should be presented in a caring way. This method was found to be effective among adolescents at a residential unit in North Wales because it could be used consistently and with intensity. The developmental value of this technique includes increased social responsibility, personal control and self-identity.

Psychosocial resources, adolescent risk behavior and young adult adjustment: is risk taking more dangerous for some than others?
Article Abstract:
Adolescent risk taking can be more dangerous for some than others, and psychosocial resources and adolescent risk behaviors determine adjustment and continued risk taking in young adulthood. Social and personal resources such as individual well-being and parental support during adolescence predict young adults' health, occupational and relational adjustment. Alcohol use predicts higher educational attainment. High school risk behaviors, including illegal drug use and antisocial behaviors, predict decreased success in relational domains.
