Automated Testing: Past, Present and Future
Article Abstract:
Automated personnel assessment methods are discussed. Requirements of an automated testing system are specified. The historical development of such testing is detailed. Several studies from clinical and occupational fields are cited. Specific tests and their adaptability to automation are discussed. Concerns about the person-machine rapport in a testng situation are examined. Advantages and problems with computer-based testing are disclosed. New tests, possibilities, and future potential for automated testing are described. Various specific tests and studies are detailed. Issues particular to the design and utilization of automated tests are enumerated. The possibility of developing custom-made tests and adaptive testing via automation are also outlined.

Inclusive education in Finland: present and future perspectives
Article Abstract:
Since the late 1960s, Finland's National Board of Education has moved to integrate special education students into regular school classes. The number of students identified with special education needs grew from 2% to 17%. In 1994 about 84% of the students are in regular classes and attend special education classes only 10% of the time, 1% participate in full inclusion; and 15% are placed in special schools or special classes.

Self-esteem: the past of an illusion
Article Abstract:
Self-esteem has hindered rather than helped positive psychological development. Self-esteem proposes that the validity of being is dependent on good or bad luck and success or failure, creating a schism between oneself and others. This duality establishes a harmful, unhealthful status structure in society instead of a tolerant, accepting perspective of unique individuals.
