Body size categorization in anorexia nervosa using a morphing instrument
Article Abstract:
A sample of females with past or present anorexia nervosa (AN) matched different size ranges on a body size continuum to the size-related categories thin, normal, fat and obese from a thin control sample, according to research designed to assess the feasibility of a body size categorization instrument using a 'morphing' methodology for body size categorization and body image assessment. For the AN group, all categories corresponded to thinner body size on the continuum when related to their own body. The morphing instrument was found to be preferable to figure rating scales.
