Correlates of adolescent male sexual offense: prior adult sexual contact, sexual attitudes, and use of sexually explicit materials
Article Abstract:
Juvenile sex offenders are more likely to have experienced physical and sexual abuse by adults than nonoffenders, according to a study of 176 teenage males, consisting of 80 sex offenders and 96 nonoffenders. Surprisingly, offenders are less likely than nonoffenders to assert that homosexuality is wrong and that women sometimes ask to be raped by their mode of dress or behavior. These attitudes may result from the psychological therapy given to offenders. Offenders are also more likely than nonoffenders to have used pornographic magazines, but less likely to have viewed pornographic videos.
