Disruption of attention by irrelevant stimuli in serial recall
Article Abstract:
Four experiments are conducted to investigate the behavioral consequences of an involuntary attentional distraction concerning memory performance. The experiments demonstrated a domain-specific distraction effect, where an irrelevant tone change impaired performance in verbal but not in spatial serial call, whereas a change of position of an irrelevant object disrupted spatial but not verbal memory performance.

Audiovisual prosody and feeling of knowing
Article Abstract:
Two experiments on the role of audiovisual prosody for signaling and detecting meta-cognitive information in question answering are presented. Results reveal that human observers could reliably distinguish high Feeling of Knowing (FOK) responses from low FOK responses in all conditions and that a bimodal presentation of the stimuli is easier than the unimodal counterparts.

Memory retrieval and interference: Working memory issues
Article Abstract:
A study that further addressed the role of working memory capacity on long-term memory retrieval is presented. Working memory capacity is fairly related to the consolidation of information into situation models and the management of interference, but is not related to the ability to suppress immaterial information.
