Executive functions and developmental psychopathology
Article Abstract:
The executive functions (EFs) play an important role in the developmental psychopathologies. EF deficits are found in autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) but not in conduct disorder or Tourette syndrome. While EF deficit profiles and severity vary across ADHD and autism, the molar EF deficits are more severe in autism than in ADHD. Studies of more specific EF tasks show defective motor inhibition in ADHD and verbal working memory in autism. The implications for future research are also discussed.

Did Asperger's cases have Asperger disorder? A research note
Article Abstract:
Hans Asperger presented in 1944 his study of individuals afflicted with an 'autistic psychopathy' similar to deficits described by Leo Kanner in his 1943 paper. The four cases he studied are examined using DSM-IV criteria to ascertain if a diagnosis of autistic or Asperger disorder is most suitable. Results find that all four cases satisfy DSM-IV criteria for autistic disorder instead of Asperger disorder, implying that the condition reported by Asperger may not be reflected by current diagnostic criteria.

Inhibitory deficits in Tourette syndrome: a function of comorbidity and symptom severity
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze central inhibitory function in children with Tourette syndrome using a negative priming task. The issue of homogeneity of the sample with tourette syndrome was addressed by analyzing symptoms on a continuum. Results indicated that neuropsychological impairment correlated with comorbidity and symptom severity in Tourette syndrome. Findings also showed deficient negative priming in children with Tourette syndrome.
