Factors that discriminate between recidivists, parole violators, and nonrecidivists in a 3-year follow-up of boot camp graduates
Article Abstract:
This article examines the differences between recidivism and nonrecidivism in 480 male graduates of a boot camp. The author, employing discriminant analysis, concludes that recidivism is influenced by age, incarceration as a juvenile, personality deficits, peer influence, and perceptions of boot camp as an easy means to early release, and nonrecidivism is influenced by self-esteem, resilience, hopes of future success, and positive perceptions of boot camp.
