Early intervention in adoptive families: supporting maternal sensitive responsiveness, infant-mother attachment, and infant competence
Article Abstract:
Two early intervention programs aimed at promoting secure infant-mother attachment relationships, maternal sensitive responsiveness and infant exploratory competence were designed to support families in the Netherlands with an internationally adopted child. The families were divided in to intervention groups who received either personal books or video-feedback sessions. Results revealed that the personal book was ineffective in bringing change to the infants or mothers. In contrast, book and video feedback were effective in establishing the interventions' goals.

Effects of pediatric chronic physical disorders on child and family adjustment
Article Abstract:
The psychosocial effects of pediatric chronic physical disorders on children and their families include increased risk for psychosocial adjustment problems but with considerable differences in outcome. Hence, the transitional stress and coping models and a generic model were proposed to identify risk and resistance factors that may explain the individual differences in adjustment. Identification of these risk and resistance factors, in turn, indicates the therapeutic value of focusing on the child's stress as risk factors.
