Psychological characteristics of juvenile alcohol and drug users
Article Abstract:
Significant differences exist between the personalities of drug using and non-drug using juvenile offenders. Those using illicit drugs score lower on the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire lie scale and higher on the Gough Socialization Scale. Drug use and addiction are more responsible for general personality disorders than specific traits such as neuroticism and introversion. Drug use is more associated with antisocial personality characteristics than frequent alcohol use. However, frequent alcohol use and illicit drug use overlap each other to a certain extent.
