German inflection: the exception that proves the rule
Article Abstract:
A memory-independent, symbol-concatenating mental operation is necessary in language processing. A rule connects a suffix to a symbol for verbs, thus not requiring access to memorized verbs or their sound patterns, but constitutes the 'default' in cases of memory access failure. Using novel German words, two experiments are conducted to show that default suffixation is not due to numerous regular words reinforcing a pattern in associative memory; default cases prove the existence of a memory-independent, symbol-concatenating mental operation.

Rethinking eliminative connectionism
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine eliminative connectionist models of reasoning. The mechanisms behind the application or extension of universal concepts to arbitrary or general cases were analyzed. Moreover, symbol manipulation, the relationship between variables and the concept of a training space were investigated. The findings demonstrate that eliminative connectionism cannot explain how humans generalize universals and does not account for the mechanisms governing symbol manipulation.

Similarity between hypotheses and evidence
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze two new results of similarity-based likelihood judgment. The evidence on which judgments are based and the hypotheses that function as the objects of judgments were examined. The judgment of disjunctive hypothesis was then discussed. Findings indicated that support correlates with feature location and on whether the hypothesis is isolated or mixed with others to establish a disjunction.
