Moral problem solving among inmates in a maximum security correctional institution
Article Abstract:
A study of 20 maximum security prisoners who evaluated and discussed several moral dilemmas revealed the moral judgments of the group were largely based on the fulfillment of personal interests and desires, rather than a general code of principals. The prisoners' responses indicated a perception of individuals as equals and, therefore, they had difficulty accepting the concept of positions carrying authority. Their inability to accept individuals exercising authority led to their justifying their reprisals against those in positions of authority.

Job satisfaction of mental health professionals providing group therapy in state correctional facilities
Article Abstract:
Psychiatric counselors working in state prisons are generally satisfied with directly providing psychological services, but less so with nondirect services such as writing reports, making case notes, and being supervised. Many surveyed felt they were underfunded and that the institution was not committed to rehabilitation.
