Organizational life cycles in banking
Article Abstract:
Increased competition due to the deregulation of the banking industry has forced bankers to utilize new management concepts in the areas of organizational design and leadership evaluation. The concept of organizational life cycles is critical to an understanding of corporate dynamics. There are different stages in a bank's development which make up the corporate life cycle: start-up, growth, maturity, and decline. An understanding of organizational life cycles by management can forestall organizational decline and enhance the implementation of competitive strategies based on technology and people.

Assessing the effectiveness of strategy consultants
Article Abstract:
Recent research evaluating the job performance effectiveness of business consultants who help management to improve corporate performance developed a model which examines the appropriateness of various types of evaluation methods. Results indicate that schemes that focus on strategy consultants' contributions to organizational adaptability or flexibility are valid. Results also indicate that managers who hire business consultants to help determine shorter-term profitability-centered indicators of organizational effectiveness may achieve disappointing results.
