Parent motivation to enroll in parenting skills programs: a model of family context and health belief prediction
Article Abstract:
Perceived program benefits, program obstacles and previous parenting resource utilization have strongest bearing on the parent's inclination to participate in parenting skill programs. A heuristic model of health belief and family related factors associated with parent inclination to participate in parenting skills program is presented. Household income was not a major predictor of either the child susceptibility to teen problems or perceived severity of teen problems. Parents (n = 1,192) of fifth graders from 33 rural school participated in the program.
