Parsimonious prediction of Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised memory indices
Article Abstract:
The Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (WMS-R) resolves many of the problems associated with its original version. A study is conducted to assess the ability of the WMS-R analogs of subtests included in the original test in predicting the General Memory and Delayed Recall indices. If evidence is found of such predictive ability without any significant decline in accuracy, then it is possible to make the WMS-R more useful by minimizing test administration time.

Cross-validation of predicted Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised scores
Article Abstract:
The prorating equations of J. L. Woodard and B. N. Axelrod for the Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised (WMS-R) general memory (GM) and delayed recall scores (DR) are confirmed on a cross-validation of the predicted WMS-R scores. The predicted scores for GM and DR fell within 6 points of the actual scores for over 92% of the patients. The unstandardized regression weights are similar to those presented by Woodard and Axelrod. These prediction equations may be useful to clinicians who omit the use of index scores by using selective subtests of the WMS-R battery.
