Patterns of Residential Energy Behavior
Article Abstract:
Energy conserving behavior of various types of households is compared with consideration given to: conservers, spenders, cool, warm, and average. Energy usage varies considerably. Conservers use the least energy, followed by cool and warm. Different strategies are required for each group.

Faults, Values and Technical Expertise in a Renewable Energy Citing Dispute
Article Abstract:
Increasing controversy has developed over the location of energy producing plants. Emphasis has been on nuclear and coal using plants. An examination of a dispute in a small Michigan town shows the role of expertise. The role of values is preeminent.

The role of economic incentive in energy conservation by households is examined. Data for time-of-day usage in Wisconsin is used. Consumer behavior is influenced by rewards and punishments. Personal commitment to conserve is significant to behavior.
