Practitioner review: School refusal: Issues of conceptualization, assessment, and treatment
Article Abstract:
It is generally accepted that school refusal should be considered as a heterogeneous and multi-causal syndrome, and as such, detailed assessment is required to determine the most appropriate form of intervention. Knowledge of working solutions has been largely based on clinical experience and scientifically controlled studies. More sophisticated approaches to assessment and treatment could result from a shift in emphasis from the symptoms to the functions of school refusal.

Practitioner review: verbal working memory development and its disorders
Article Abstract:
Evidence from research suggests that verbal short-term memory functions fulfill the role of working memory systems, which play an important role in cognitive task performance by temporarily storing and manipulating information. This reveals direct correlations between impaired verbal short-term memory systems and cognitive deficiencies.
