The attitude of kibbutz youth to rape: myth versus reality
Article Abstract:
A recent study of middle class urban youth and kibbutz youth in Israel found similarities in attitudes about rape. The similarities were especially evident in urban and kibbutz girls, who had more realistic attitudes about rape and were more likely to see themselves as victims. Kibbutz boys tended to be more ideological about their society and attribute rape to provocative women and deranged men. The basic concept of kibbutz society precludes the recognition of rape and other serious crime happening there, but the study shows that kibbutz society is susceptible to the same crimes as the society in general.

The battered wife's perception of the characteristics of her encounter with the police
Article Abstract:
A survey of abused Israeli women shows many of them feel frustrated with the police investigation of their case. Their complaints are usually motivated by humiliation and fear, in the hope that they will be protected and supported; yet police often treated them suspiciously, feeling they were motivated by profit or revenge.

Gender, traditionalism, and attitudes toward domestic violence within a closed community
Article Abstract:
The attitudes toward domestic violence of people living in communal secular and religious kibbutzim are examined. The findings, disregarding gender or traditionalism, indicate that most of the kibbutz members examined view the kibbutz as almost totally lacking any problem of violence toward woman by their partners.
