The space in spatial language
Article Abstract:
The distance parameter is examined with the help of four experiments where response times in a speeded sentence/ picture verification task, and compared across prime and probe trials for which the distance between the objects matched or mismatched. The results indicate that a distance is computed when using projective spatial terms, and that this distance is maintained within a parameter of the reference frame.

On the evidence for maturational constraints in second-language acquisition
Article Abstract:
Issues related to second language acquisition are examined, focusing on the role of age in the learning of a second language. Topics include experiments concerning the learning of language just before the end of a critical learning age period, and results indicating degrees of language acquisition for late learners.

The use of predictive dependencies in language learning
Article Abstract:
The role of statistical learning in language acquisition has been investigated in two experiments involving predictive dependencies in basic phrase structure. Adults and children were tested using an artificial language in which predictive dependencies provided cues to phrase structure.
