When words compete: levels of processing in perception of spoken words
Article Abstract:
Direct manipulation of the similarity neighborhoods and the probabilistic phonotactics of two sets of stimuli was undertaken to determine the effects of lexical and sublexical representation on processing during perception of spoken words. Results reveal that competitive effects of neighborhood density become evident with the lexical level of representation. On the other hand, the facilitatory effects of phonotactics become evident with the removal of strong lexical effects.

Auditory pitch as a perceptual analogue to odor quality
Article Abstract:
Research shows that a stimulus odor can be matched by subjects to auditory pitch. Perceived features of smell seem to be the basis for the tone matches as opposed to pleasantness or stimulus intensity. The odors were matched to a pitch-equivalent in sequence, implying that odor quality incorporates previously unrealized structural features. Research participants interpreted the odor quality to auditory pitch in a consistent way.

Temporal induction of missing birdsong segments in European starlings
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze temporal induction of missing birdsong segments in European starlings. The starlings were studied in a cage placed inside a sound-attenuating chamber. Results indicated that the starlings responded preferentially to the starling ken when the song segments were replaced by noise. The starlings had difficulty in discriminating starling segment and noise from noise alone.
