Desktop design awards
Article Abstract:
Publish!'s second annual Desktop Design Award contest drew 15,000 entries in 14 categories. Entries were judged on their ability to communicate an intended message, color, layout, type, graphics, and use of desktop publishing tools. Creativity in the use of tools was awarded with extra points. A few categories such as newspapers did not get entries which merited recognition. Although the type of PC used by entrants was not taken into consideration, Macintosh equipment was used by all prize winners. For its catalog design, Daniel Smith Inc. received the grand prize, an Apple Laserwriter IINT. Winning entries are shown with brief listings of tools used by each.
