London hothouse
Article Abstract:
Advertising executive Tim Delaney believes that advertising should be intelligent and interesting. He says that many ad agencies have replaced instinctive skills and experience with information and analytical measurement. His shop, Leagas Delaney, won the top award for creative depth from the British periodical Campaign four out of five years between 1988 and 1993. Delaney himself creates over 50% of the work done by his agency, and he chooses people to work for him who see their work as an integral part of life.

Built on the virtues of intuition
Article Abstract:
Abbott Mead Vickers/BBDO is one of the most successful advertising firms with pre-tax profits for 1994 at $12 million, up 73% from the year before. David Abbott, one of the three partners, attributes the success to a strong emphasis on creativity, an excellent working environment, and a sense of trust between the firm and its clients. The company's campaign for "The Economist" has brought it international attention with its subtle distinctions between readers and non-readers.

The man who made it simple
Article Abstract:
Bob Cox's work has been impacting the advertising industry for decades, beginning with an Alka-Seltzer campaign in 1974 which depicted artist Salvador Dali outlining the effects of the antacid on a model. His Honda account, which began in 1976, is thought to be a defining factor which led to the success of the car in America. Cox, who began the Cox Group in 1993, has been working to help new businesses begin with strong advertisements.
