Graphic design master Paul Rand: 1917-1996
Article Abstract:
The late Paul Rand's graphic design career began in 1917 when at the age of three he began drawing store designs. Raised as an Orthodox Jew, Rand circumvented religious laws forbidding figurative drawing to develop other artistic skills, which later culminated in the design of such famous logos as IBM, UPS, and NEXT. Rand is also credited with incorporating 1920's avant-garde imagery in business communications, and he was the first member of the Art Directors Hall of Fame.

If integrity was a rule, would those who don't have any follow it?
Article Abstract:
"Comping" or client presentation often benefits graphic artists by advertising their talents. Deadlines and multiple tasks make it unrealistic for art directors and graphic designers to obtain approvals and licenses for individual works. Experiences with photographers and illustrators indicate that they support the use of their images for comping purposes.
