Think bigger: how to put together a tabloid from letter-size pages
Article Abstract:
Producing a tabloid newspaper on a desktop publishing system often involves 'tiling', a feature of some page-makeup programs allowing a tabloid page to be done in letter-size sections. For example, using such software as Quark Xpress on a Macintosh, Ventura Publisher on an IBM PC, or PageMaker on either computer, an 11-by-17-inch page can be done in two 8.5-by-11-inch horizontal tiles. Tiling is necessary when you do a large publication because most currently available laser printers only print on letter-size or legal-size paper. The specifics of how tiling is accomplished are explained using PageMaker; but the principles are said to apply to other programs as well.
