Wake up the boardroom
Article Abstract:
Whether you are working with an Apple Macintosh or an IBM PC, presentation graphics software can make the difference in creating effective, powerful presentations. Priced at between $400 and $500 the leading software packages all offer basic graphics and test capabilities, but some have features that separate them from the pack. The variety of clip-art available, the number of non-standard charts they offer, their ability to automate text entry and layout, the variety of colors, fonts, and line styles, and their ability to rotate and flip graphics, all need to be considered. The packages rated in this buyers guide are, Aldus Persuasion, More II, Microsoft PowerPoint, CA-Cricket Presents, Standout!, Freelance Plus, Graph Plus, Draw Applause, Harvard Graphics, GEM Presentation Team, Graphics Gallery, and Xerox Presents.

Push-Button pages
Article Abstract:
Ventura Publisher is a PC page makeup program, from Ventura Software, priced at $895. The product is a 'batch pagination program'; that is, the product automatically formats an entire document according to layout and typographic specifications that are user defined. Ventura Publisher destroys the idea that IBM PCs and compatibles are less suitable than Macintoshes for desktop publishing. The program is described in detail, and the product's speed and convenience are emphasized. The program is highly recommended, especially for business production.
