WordPerfect for the Mac
Article Abstract:
WordPerfect Corp's $495 WordPerfect 2.0 for the Macintosh word processing software can be successfully used to perform many desktop publishing applications, as is shown in the preparation of a sample document. Using WordPerfect to do page layout does take some patience, and many of the skills learned on WordPerfect are not transferable to other software because of the idiosyncratic commands. Effective features of WordPerfect for page layout include its graphics capabilities, text-column formatting control, layering capabilities, precise rotation of objects, text wrapping and import of image files in several formats. Several aspects of the software require more than average previsualization skills for satisfactory results. A major debit is that line leading can not be set in points.

Easy indexing with Word Perfect: a push-button guide to creating a professional index (includes related articles on deciding what to index and on index formatting tips)
Article Abstract:
Word Perfect versions 4.2 and 5.0 simplify the task of creating an index by including a concordance file. The concordance file allows the user to define a list of words or phrases that the program will search for automatically. Two macros greatly simplify the process. The user goes through the text and uses the macro to enter pertinent words or phrases into the concordance file. The file is then sorted into alphabetical order and edited. Subheadings and multiple entries can be created at this point. The index is then automatically generated. Changes in the index can easily be made and they overwrite the original entries in the concordance file when the index is regenerated.

In perfect form
Article Abstract:
A seven-step process for creating forms with WordPerfect 5.1's Table feature is detailed. The process, which is not in the package's manual, begins with page set-up, proceeds through interaction of box rule and logo, definition of styles, table creation, entry of math formulas, and insertion of merge codes, and concludes with filling in the form. The addition of the ability to create forms and mathematical tables increases WordPerfect's value as an all-purpose program.
