Foul-up over fair play
Article Abstract:
Only a few land agreements will not be excluded from the UK Competition Bill. The introduction of a Competition Bill will allow competition authorities greater powers to carry out investigations and they can award fines, of no more than 10% of turnover, to those found transgressing the rules. Most property agreements will do not involve competition and therefore will not be changed. Some observers fear the new Bill will allow private companies, rather than the planning authorities, the ability to control the use of land.

Fairness enforced
Article Abstract:
The 1996 UK Disability Discrimination Act has implications for commercial landlords who may be taken to court if they do not allow their tenants to make suitable alterations for disabled workers. Landlords may also be accused of discrimination if they treat a disabled person unfairly, such as not permitting a disabled person to use facilities provided for all tenants in a block of flats. Some 100,000 pounds sterling has been awarded to people suffering from discrimination under the act.
