The UK property market proved popular with European investors during 1999 due to the likelihood of a rise in rental values and the low interest rates. Although investment in the retail sector has not been as good. The leisure and retail sectors in Cardiff, Wales, have proved popular with investors. Both the retail and office market in Glasgow, Scotland were buoyant, with local agents suggesting the market is likely to improve in the future. A number of major foreign investors invested in Leeds, England, during 2000. It is anticipated rents will rise due to the redevelopment of the city
