Hidden opportunities in RTC hotel properties
Article Abstract:
The Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) was set up in Aug 1989 to manage the divestment of properties of inactive savings and loan institutions. It holds some 155 hotels which suffered under the industrial downturn, but which can be competitive with favorable marketing and management. Investors can take advantage of low divestment prices and available financial assistance and some groups have shown interest in acquiring hotels to turn into alternative care and detention facilities. The sale of RTC-held hotels is expected to affect property values, market shares and hotel industry statistics.
