Although absolute living standards in Britain continue to rise, other countries are catching up as they become industrialise, and their growth rates will exceed those of Britain. Its growth rate has already converged with that of its main competitors, including France, Italy, Germany and the US. There are exciting investment prospects to be found, particularly in real assets such as equities and property in the developing world. Investors are likely to invest in local management in real estate in developing countries, although emerging property markets will still have a tendency towards speculative bubbles.
