London's offices to get think-tank treatment
Article Abstract:
London, England, has not had a strategic planning authority since 1986, with local boroughs responsible for deciding planning issues. In order to achieve a metropolis-wide view, a new planning panel has been established. The London Office Review Panel (LORP) is chaired by Honor Chapman and represents the major players in the market, including local authorities, occupiers, agents, developers and landowners. LORP's remit is to advise on the capital's planning issues. Its first task has been to produce a market assessment, which argues that London has an oversupply of office space, mostly secondhand.
