Spreading the net across Europe
Article Abstract:
Distribution firm Christian Salvesen is seeking to bring its different international operations under a common strategy, in order to create a European-wide network. While some activities are more easily harmonised, for example computer systems, Christian Salvesen must consider individual clients' needs when deciding where its distribution centres should be located. The firm has both dedicated warehouses and multi-user sites: dedicated warehouses are usually leased, whereas multi-user centres may be purchased freehold.
