Property's Christmas list
Article Abstract:
The UK property industry is putting considerable pressure on the government to introduce favourable measures in the forthcoming 1996 Budget. These would include the introduction of tax-neutral UK securitised property vehicles to act against the long-standing decline in direct investment and the creation of Property Investment Trusts. The British Property Federation is seeking greater tax incentives to develop on brownfield sites rather than greenfield ones, as well as a simplification of the industrial buildings allowance.

Article Abstract:
There is currently a lack of attractive property investment opportunities in Manchester, England. The centre of the city has an excess of high quality office accommodation in the 4,645-7,432 sq mt range, and there has been little foreign investment. However, there is demand for speculative investments, although investors are still concerned about being over-exposed. Some agents warn that many recent lettings have been the result of redistribution, rather than new development.
