Stock selection: can we pick winners?
Article Abstract:
There is a wide range of information available to property investors, but it can prove very difficult to combine this information to produce an effective investment strategy. However, recent research has used an analysis of regional rental performance to produce some basic investment rules. It is clear that each region undergoes a distinct cycle, that there is wide variation in relative performance and that there is little correlation between the relative performance of regions in different use sectors.

Buying commercial property in France
Article Abstract:
Several UK investors are known to be looking at opportunities in France, where the commercial property market is relatively attractive, despite a difficult business climate. The properties attracting the most interest are shopping centres and office buildings situated in central Paris let to a tenant with a good covenant. Rental income could be free of tax altogether in France if an investment is purchased by a UK pension fund through a French vehicle which is transparent in tax terms.
