Surveyors on the Internet
Article Abstract:
The UK property industry has proved to be very cautious about the potential of the Internet, but more firms are now starting to see the benefits of the technology. The first use of Internet technology by surveyors was to provide E-mail services: this was in response to client pressure. This has led to greater use of the Internet for internal company communications, and more recently between companies. Several leading surveyors now have home pages on the Internet, but as yet this is used mainly for general information which comes directly from printed material.

Driving down the cost of public investment: funding cuts in the roads programme have taken a heavy toll
Article Abstract:
Funding cuts have meant that over 70 proposed road schemes have been withdrawn, eight have been scaled down and 11 put on hold. There will only be three new, publicly funded road schemes starting between January 1996 and April 1997. There are concerns that the cuts will cause chaos in the road programme without defining other measures to deal with traffic growth.
