The success of the RTC's Premier Commercial Auction
Article Abstract:
The Resolution Trust Corp (RTC) successfully held its Premier Commercial Auction on Nov 21, 1991 after year-long preparations in which the services of an accounting firm, an auction-marketing firm, a real estate brokerage company and a public relations firm were enlisted. Shrugging of skeptics and the ailing US economy, the RTC was able to recover $112 million in taxpayers' money from selling off part of its real estate inventory. The methodologies used in the management of the successful auction are discussed for the benefit of people involved in property auctions.
