Wales
Article Abstract:
Wales, UK, has had ten times the average European Union amount of inward investment since 1983, a total amounting to 7 billion pounds sterling. Since the mid-1970s foreign manufacturers have established 360 plants in the country, the latest major decision being that of the Lucky-Goldstar Group to invest 1.7 billion pounds sterling in two hi-tech plants in Newport. Forecasts predict that the Welsh economy is going to continue its strong performance, underpinned by the strength of the manufacturing sector, and aided by the attractive financial incentives available in the country.

Don't swallow this parking penalty
Article Abstract:
Local councils in the UK are taking an inconsistent approach to managing commuted payments from developers of town centre restaurants and pubs in lieu of parking spaces. There is still considerable confusion and contradiction relating to the application of car-parking standards and commuted sums. The A3 industry should respond to this problem by becoming involved in the local plan process in order to press for sensible policy amendments.
