A feminist voice across 200 years
Article Abstract:
'A Dangerous Reputation' on Jun 7 1992 is a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the publication of 'A Vindication of the Rights of Woman' by Mary Wollstonecraft. Three actresses, Juliet Stevenson, Jacquetta May and Abigail Thaw studied her work for the presentation. Mary Wollstonecraft was born in Spitalfields in 1759 and became a teacher, governess and writer. In 1792, during the French Revolution, her book on equality was a best-seller, but it is still valid in the 1990's. Mary Wollstonecraft wrote with passion , asserting women's right to sexual pleasure and examining the relationship between emotions and intellect.

Are women turned off by technology?
Article Abstract:
Use of latest technology is much less common among women in the UK than among men, except in the case of mobile phones. This is hard to explain, given that it would seem that women tend to have the characteristics that would make them highly suited to the technology of the information age. However, it seems that many women are still not comfortable about using technology. They tend to be slower than men to adopt a technology, and place more emphasis on what the technology can do for them than on what a particular technology is capable of.

Now the robots are after your job, too
Article Abstract:
Businesses in the UK have undertaken extensive downsizing and restructuring over recent years, and more than two-thirds now expect the rate of worker redundancies to continue or speed up. High-tech equipment is now replacing human labour in almost all industries, and many occupations face almost complete extinction. This will inevitably lead to higher unemployment.
