Accountant's clients in fees dispute
Article Abstract:
Trading standards officers investigated accountant Roger Beverly-Wilson in Emsworth, Hampshire, England, as a group of clients protested about his high fees. An advertisement in the 1993 'Hampshire Business Directory' incorrectly stated that Mr Beverly-Wilson's firm was a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. The accountant sued 13 members of the group for non-payment but the court has reduced three of these bills. The group demonstrated at Mr Beverly-Wilson's home on Jul 22, 1993, as he refused to meet them.

WORLD: DISPUTE OVER RULES ON PLANT PATENTS
Article Abstract:
The refusal by round 70 countries to apply World Trade Organisation (WTO) trade-related intellectual property rights (Trips) rules, after several controversial legal cases, has forced the WTO to undertake a review. In particular, several countries are worried about the ability to take out patents for plants such as varieties of rice, which could impede trade for major growers such as India. The Trips rules have also been criticised for failing to encourage innovation in a productive way.
