Alfred Stephenson
Article Abstract:
Polar explorer and surveyor Alfred Stephenson studied Geography at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, England. He graduated in 1930, and immediately joined the British Arctic Air Route Expedition to Greenland as chief surveyor. He was a member of the British Polar Year Expedition in 1932, and in 1934 went to the Antarctic with the British Graham Land Expedition as chief surveyor and meteorologist. He became a Lecturer in Surveying at Imperial College, London, England, and served with the RAF during the second world war.

Jacques Cousteau
Article Abstract:
Marine explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau was responsible for making several generations of television viewers aware of the wonders of the world beneath the ocean. He hosted the most popular documentary series ever to have been shown on television, and was also author or co-author of around 80 books. He had great enthusiasm for life, and many people were attracted to his constant curiosity. He had a number of ongoing health problems, and came close to losing his life several times.

Sebastian Snow
Article Abstract:
Explorer Sebastian Snow was born in Midhurst, England, in 1929. He set out for Peru at the age of 22, and claimed to have discovered the source of, and been the first person to travel the entire length of, the Amazon River.
