Alienated? Excuse my French ...
Article Abstract:
There is often conflict between a film studio and a director, according to director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. He experienced this when working on 'Alien Resurrection.' He came under considerable pressure from 20th Century Fox to cut costs, but was not prepared to make compromises. He often felt that his working methods were being called into question, and responded by insisting on two full months to prepare storyboards. He found that working with American actors was a better experience than he had anticipated.

The director's new contract
Article Abstract:
Opera offers many more possibilities than film, according to filmmaker Peter Greenaway, whose latest project is 'Writing to Vermeer,' an opera commissioned for the millennium. He continues to write and direct films, but is becoming increasingly disillusioned with film itself. He believes that cinema is dead and that it will be replaced by 360-degree theme parks. His next work, 'Tulseluper Suitcase,' will be in the form of four two-hour films.
