Film and theatre producer and actors' agent Allan Carr became interested in the theatre at an early age. While still in his teens, he put $750 into the musical 'Ziegfeld Follies.' He invested $1,250 in the play 'The Happiest Millionaire' in 1957, and was a fully established impresario by the age of 20. He reopened the Civic Theater in Chicago, IL, in 1962 with his productions of 'The World of Carl Sandburg,' 'Mary Stuart' and 'Garden District.' He became a creative consultant to the Robert Stigwood Organization, and promoted the 1975 rock-opera 'Tommy.'

Stefan Lorant
Article Abstract:
Filmmaker, editor and writer Stefan Lorant was greatly influenced by the political extremes taking place in Hungary during his teenage years. He graduated from the Academy of Economics in 1919, and between 1920 and 1925 worked in the emerging silent film industry in Austria and Germany. He started writing articles for newspapers in Berlin, Germany, in 1925, and edited eight pictorial publications in the period to 1938. He lived in the US from 1940, working mainly as an author.

Edward Craig
Article Abstract:
Writer, film director and film and theatre designer Edward Carrick spent his early years travelling around Europe with his artist and stage designer father. His relationship with his father broke down when he was 23, and he became Art Director for Welsh-Pearson. He was soon recognized as having great talent as a designer of sets made specifically for film. In 1937 he opened the first school devoted wholly to the study of art as applied to films.
