Alone, alone, all, all alone, alone on a wide, wide sea!
Article Abstract:
The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland, is currently staging an exhibition of the work of American photographer Thomas Joshua Cooper, entitled 'Where the Rivers Flow.' This is particularly interesting for the sea photographs, which show a sea that does not look infinite in the normal way as the horizon does not appear in the frame. The Photographers' Gallery in London, England, is staging an exhibition of the work of Italian photographer Massimo Vitali. This shows photographs of beach scenes which seem to lack a focal point, as the camera is turned away from the sea.

Towards a perfect monotony
Article Abstract:
The Tate Gallery in Liverpool, England, is currently staging an exhibition of the work of Willie Doherty, who uses photographs with words and videos with soundtracks to present the politics of Northern Ireland. The exhibition, entitled 'Somewhere Else,' presents the results of violent action, rather than violent action itself. Doherty's work contains very little human incident, with human presence often only being implied. The works include a video piece entitled 'At the End of the Day.'
