An accident of gender
Article Abstract:
Automobile insurance in the UK is generally cheaper for woman, whose accidents are not as expensive as men's and whose driving patterns are different. Women cover a lower mileage than men and make shorter journeys usually local. According to the Automobile Association, young men in their early twenties and late teens pay more for insurance than young ladies as men show off in their cars. Once past the age of 30, the difference between rates for men and women is less pronounced, and by 55 rates are similar.

The ethical meets the profitable
Article Abstract:
Ethical investment funds, which were launched in the UK in 1984, have become increasingly popular. Indeed, in 1995 funds invested on an ethical basis rose by 26%, and investment in ethical unit trust funds has now reached more than 1 billion pounds sterling. Ethical funds have achieved average returns of 67% over the last five years, compared with 68% for ordinary UK growth funds. Investing in an ethical fund does not necessarily mean having to accept a lower return.

When it comes to your premiums, you are what you do
Article Abstract:
Car insurance premiums can vary dramatically according to the policyholder's occupation. People involved in low-risk professions, such as librarians, teachers and bank managers, tend to pay much less for car insurance than those in professions which are regarded as having a high risk of accident or redundancy, such as acting, modelling or journalism. The same trend can also apply to household insurance.
