Death of fifth rider shocks eventing into crisis reforms
Article Abstract:
The directors of the British Horse Trials Association have agreed to introduce new safety measures following the deaths of five riders over a short period of time. Their proposals include the use of collapsible fences rather than solid obstacles. Some observers believe that these measures may not necessarily reduce the number of deaths associated with showjumping, as it is not known why there has been a substantial rise in fatalities recently.

The world's most potent sporting landmarks are consigned to history
Article Abstract:
The new Wembley National Stadium in London, England, due for completion in 2003, will feature four 130mt-tall steel masts. It is hoped that the stadium will attract the 2006 World Cup to the UK and possibly even the Olympic Games in 2012. Some observers have expressed concern about the loss of the famous Twin Towers of the existing Wembley Stadium, but English Heritage has dropped its objections to the rebuilding scheme.
