Anne Woolliams

Dancer, teacher, choreographer and director Anne Woolliams studied with Vera Volkova, the best teacher in London, England, in the 1940s. She made her professional debut with Jay Pomeroy's Russian Opera and Ballet. She danced with the Russian Ballet de la Jeunesse Anglaise in 1943, and then danced with the St James's Ballet for several years. She gradually turned to teaching, and from 1956 to 1963 was at the Folkwang School in Essen, Germany. She became ballet mistress of the Stuttgart Ballet in 1963, and in 1976 was appointed artistic director of the Australian Ballet.

Christopher Gable
Article Abstract:
Christopher Gable was a choreographer and dancer who was a star in the British Royal Ballet and developed a partnership with Lynn Seymour on stage. He turned to acting after developing osteo-arthritis of the feet, and worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He set up the Central School of Ballet in 1982, and became artistic director of the Northern Ballet Theater in 1987. He returned to dancing with a part in 'A Simple Man' on the life of a local painter, L.S.Lowry.

Jane Dudley
Article Abstract:
Dancer, choreographer and teacher Jane Dudley was born in New York, NY, in 1912. She began her professional training at the age of 18 at the New York school opened by Mary Wigman. She later joined Martha Graham's company as a soloist, remaining there until 1944.
