Aga louts draw fire of rural agitators
Article Abstract:
The hamlet of Eastham, Hereford and Worcester, England is reputed to be the worst-served village in the country according to a Rural Development Commission survey. It is in a pretty area but has no school, post office, pub or good bus service. Some residents are wealthy newcomers who protect their ideas of rural life at the expense of locals. There is a campaign to renovate the village memorial hall at a cost of 20,000 pounds sterling.

Article Abstract:
The Northampton area in the middle of England has similar homelessness and unemployment in 1992 to that in 1936 when the Jarrow Crusade from Tyneside marched through to London to demand work. The male unemployment level in some Northampton wards is 20%. Middle class and working class homes have been repossessed and violent crime is common in shopping centres. Housing in Market Harbourough is expensive and village life has disappeared.
