Ashdown stands up for new politics
Article Abstract:
The UK Liberal Democrats must be prepared to take risks and become involved with those of other political beliefs, according to party leader Paddy Ashdown. However, he has made a commitment to continuing to attack the spending cuts planned by the Labour government, and has emphasized that the Liberal Democrats will maintain distinctive ideas. He has warned that it may be necessary to make compromises as the party works with the government on proposals for constitutional reform.

Gangster's British links
Article Abstract:
Labour MPs claim that the UK government may have gone against international conventions by using Foreign Office diplomatic bags improperly to send political material to Albania. They have used a motion to criticise 'British diplomatic and trade support' for Shaiponja, a company which is claimed to have been involved in smuggling and is run by Albania's ruling Democratic Party. Assistance was also given to the Vefa holding company, the Labour MPs allege.
